I have been trying a bunch of different versions, but none have been clearly better than the one in the article.
Plotting Outcaster Trailblazer and then playing it into Calamity is the use of Calamity that comes up most often.
Trailblazer and Smuggler's are the decks key cards because they provide both card advantage and ramp that gives the deck it's explosiveness.
A lot of the deck is setting up for a well timed Smuggler's for 6,7,8, or 9 mana depending on the situation, but at the same time if you are missing land drops do not be afraid to play smugglers for three and trust you will draw into another or just be able to win with creatures.
I no longer like Pawpatch in the board, so would replace those 3 with 2 Baloth and 1 Pick your Poison. Bring in the baloths against red and hopeless nightmare.
I have a beanstalk version of the deck I just started testing that is showing some promise. If it proves good I'll write up a post on it.
I loved your Fecund pioneer list, and had been trying to adapt it to standard but didn't quite get there. This seems really sweet though! What are you thinking for the mana base, probably more untapped green for elf? And is the verge good here? Maybe run Karplusan?
I cut one of the Arid Archways for a Forest and that seemed to really help. I am also running 4 Overgrown Zealot now, which is harder to kill so provides better fixing.
Your right, 4 of the verges is likely a bit ambitious (if the colors went the other direction it would not be, though they have played for the most part fine).
I should probably try Karplusan, but I hate the painlands and many of the matchups are my opponent just trying to chip away at my life fast enough before I go over the top and win (gruul, pixie, dimir), so I am worried it really will hurt. Also, the deserts make it so the painlands are more painful, because you are often using the deserts for the colorless costs.
Do you mean Zealots over Elf? That would sidestep the requirement of untapped green on 1 and give better blockers against aggro. Great for Screaming Nemesis too! Armoured Scrapgorger is a mana dork that blocks and gives some mainboard graveyard interaction, but 4 toughness really feels like a lot more than 3.
Karplusan feels scary in the aggro matchups yeah. I still keep hoping for other verge pairs, some decks really benefit a lot from these combinations...
I'm running Elf and Zealots, they are taking the place of FOMO. I'm going a bit more ramp heavy with my recent versions.
But yeah 4 toughness feels like a magic number for blocking, so Zealot has been great as an unplan maindeck card that helps a ton against the Red decks.
Yeah under each decklist there's **Decklist Link** which has a link to the deck in Moxfield and you can export from there. Thanks for the feedback, I'll try to make it more obvious
Giddy up
Do you have more info about this deck - like a current list or some general play patterns? It seems sweet and I want to learn to pilot it better :)

Oh, this is beautiful. Gotta prep for the Qualifier right now, but can't wait to start testing this afterward!
Though I do wish the decklists were importable. Am I missing a way to do that?

Thanks, that's actually pretty visible! But maybe the link before the decklist would make more sense? Honestly not sure what's better.
